Luana AG is part of the Luana Group, which was founded in Hamburg in 2008 and focuses on ecological energy supply. The operational core competences of Luana AG are the development, planning, construction and ongoing operation of energy systems in large-scale projects and real estate portfolios. The projects—primarily in the areas of photovoltaics, heat pumps, charging infrastructure and combined heat and power plants—are all realized from a single source. Through Luana AG, investors gain access to capital investments in sustainable energy projects that contribute to CO₂ reduction and make a measurable contribution to climate protection. This aligns perfectly with Luana AG’s core mission.

From 2008 until today

2022

11,290 residential units supplied

Luana AG’s strategic orientation is having an impact. In 2022 alone, we established two more joint ventures. As a result, we now supply 11,290 residential units with ecologically generated energy (as of June 2022).

2020

Joint ventures

The introduction of digital systems for automated monitoring in 2019 was a measure that was well received by the market: this enabled the portfolio to be expanded to over 100 operating energy plants. In addition, the first joint venture was launched and the company recorded its thousandth investor.

2019

Foundation of Luana AG

Luana AG was founded in 2019 as a fully comprehensive energy supplier. We introduced digital systems for automated monitoring to create clear structures and a high degree of transparency. This allows us to view and document all systems for customers from start to finish.

2017

Orientation as an ecological energy supplier

Started as an initiator for investments, the company developed more and more into an ecological energy supplier. Since 2017, the company has therefore invested intensively in the expansion of its own project development, project planning and operational management. Investments that paid off: the amount of heat supplied was increased by an average of 37% annually.

In addition, Marcus Florek was appointed to the board of the Bundesverband der Kraft-Wärme-Kopplung e.V. (B.KWK).

2012

Focus on efficient CHP technologies

In addition to photovoltaics, Luana has dedicated itself to another field with numerous possibilities: the operation of combined heat and power plants (“CHP”). The technology is based on over 100 years of engine development with a number of convincing arguments. It combines the generation of heat and electricity and can thus achieve efficiency levels of over 90%. Furthermore, CHP units can be flexibly switched on and off, making them base-load capable and the epitome of decentralized energy supply.

In 2012, the first public investment offer focusing on combined heat and power plants was initiated as a pure lease model. The next public equity offering in this area was completely restructured in terms of content and structured as a contracting model. This means that the investment company generates the energy and customers purchase the heat and electricity. Luana took over the operational management and significantly expanded its range of services.

2008

The beginnings of the Luana Group

Luana was founded in 2008 with the aim of establishing renewable energies and energy-efficient projects on the capital market through investment models. Based on the premise of systematically combining economy and ecology, the Hamburg-based company designed investment models and placed the capital with investors in the market.

The initial focus was on photovoltaics. The first target market was Italy. The high level of solar radiation in southern Europe and the legal framework offered a market with immense potential. At two locations, each with its own project development team, four photovoltaic systems on roofs and three ground-mounted systems were developed, planned, implemented and financed within the framework of six private placements and one public investment.
