Blue Ball 2025 at the Grand Elysée Hamburg

One of the biggest charity events in Germany

On April 12, 2025, the Blue Ball will be held for the 27th time at the five-star private hotel Grand Elysée Hamburg. This charity event is a firm fixture in Hamburg’s event calendar and has combined elegance with charity for decades. As one of the largest charity events in Germany with up to 650 guests per year and over 16,000 guests since the event began, the Blue Ball will once again support the children’s cancer ward at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) in the coming year.

Charity in the spotlight

Support for children

The proceeds from the event will benefit the children’s cancer ward at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). With their donations, guests make an important contribution to medical care and research for children in need. According to the foreword of the book “Helping and having fun. 25 Years of the Blue Ball”, ‘the Children’s Cancer Center (…) is a special facility for paediatric and adolescent medicine in the north’ and offers ‘outstanding medical treatment and gives children affected by cancer and their families support and hope for a cure’.

Furthermore, ‘the donations from the Blue Ball are used (…):

  • to procure medical equipment,
  • to promote pediatric cancer research.
  • to develop new therapies, and
  • to provide good social and psychological care.’

According to the book, the following projects were supported in the first 25 years of the Blue Ball’s existence:

  • Children’s parties
  • Monitors
  • Starry sky
  • Clinical thermometers
  • Lung testers
  • Hospital chairs and beds
  • Chocolate machine
  • Childcare for siblings
  • Overnight stay for families of intensive care patients
  • Four Brothers Campaign
  • Sponsorships at the Ronald McDonald House

Well-known sponsors this year include Wempe, Turkish Airlines, Coca Cola, breuninger and the Business Club Hamburg.

Culinary delights

An evening for gourmets

The Grand Elysée Hamburg presumably spoils its guests with an exquisite menu that impresses with high-quality ingredients and creative preparation. We are not aware of the menu itself, but the private hotel has several renowned restaurants:

  • THEO’s Steakhouse, which, according to its website, “stands for exquisite meat from the best cattle, the atmosphere of a real American steakhouse and a passion for good food” and offers Angus steak and dry-aged beef, among other things.
  • The Brasserie Flum, a French restaurant that offers classics such as “Bouillabaisse à la Marseillaise” and specializes in exquisite, freshly caught seafood.
  • The Italian restaurant Piazza Romana, which, according to its website, is one of the “best Italian restaurants in Hamburg” and serves pasta, freshly caught fish and antipasti, among other things.
  • Le Petit Chef, which is known for its culinary and artistic spectacles and currently offers a 3D hologram show, for example, and uses 3D mapping technology to conjure up great cinema on tables and plates.

It is therefore safe to assume that all guests at the Blue Ball will be treated to excellent food.
